THE NOSEY NEIGHBOR- Dispeling the gloom

~JUNE GLOOM~ June 21,2020
Light at the end of the tunnel.

Even on cloudy days, the lamps help dispel some of the gloom. Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?
“We are all broken, that’s how the light gets in.” Ernest Hemingway
Putting a little bit of magic in the lamps, perhaps setting the mood for the day, I Appreciate the lamps more on these early gloomy, overcast days. The earlier in the morning my walk, the likelier that some may still be on.
"The faithful discharge of today's duties will be the best preparation for tomorrow's trials. We will not gather together all tomorrow's liabilities and cares to add unto the burdens of today. Sufficient for the day is the evil thereof. God gives us strength for each day" -- Ellen White, Letter 141, Jan. 30, 1896

My neighborhood has a thing for lamps. I pass by them on my daily photo walks. They are a testimony to the lamps’ enduring powers of enchantment.
Many times in my photo walks I pause to admire the gorgeous lanterns on posts that line many homes. Some of them are quite impressive. I stop often to gaze on these enchanting stately lamppost. I find them quite fascinating.

I continued to trudge up the uneven sidewalk, enjoying sights and sounds of nature: birds chirping and screeching, leaves rustling, squirrels scampering about, I was pleasured by the lack of sounds: no traffic droning, no horns honking, no sirens screaming, etc.
I have always been a person who treasures time alone, quietly pondering God’s world around me and His Word so in this way I was well prepared for a pandemic.
I also feel very grateful in a different way because I enjoy writing. Words travel from my fingers. I just look and there will always be a glimpse of beauty somewhere. There will always be something to write about.

All the photos, I have taken in my neighborhood of light/lamp posts. Slightly obsessed by all the different kinds and the ambience of time of day.
