Alzheimer’s, the Brain, and the Soul | Desiring God

Encouraging Our Members
Alzheimer’s, the Brain, and the Soul | Desiring God

This is such a good read and I encourage everyone that has a loved one who has AD to consider reading it.

Also I encourage those who do not attend a support group to attend and be encouraged by our devotionals as well as support those who are going through this journey.

We serve with the energy that God gives.

TODAY IS ME DAY

Today for lack of anything else to occupy my mind, it is a self proclaimed "ME" day.

Dear Bloggie,
I don't know if it is due to the season of life I am in, that I am frequently drawn to memories of the past.
Today's rain brought back some of those memories of sloshing around in mud-filled trails leading up to our house in Mexico, the downpours from the eaves of the house and embroidering til dark, and curling up in our living room comfy chair, a metal/plastic lawn chair reading a book from a recently received care package from the states.
We had no sofa as the weather would have turned it into a solid mass of mold and no stuffed animals to cuddle with.
When it got dark we would light a kerosene lamp and go to bed with the chickens only to awake the next morning at the crack of dawn to the Indians preparing the corn tortillas for the day.
Flashlights were a treat and only used on occasion or rare necessities according to the supply of batteries.  I would sneak the short wave radio under the covers in hopes to hear something in the English language and maybe some music.

Unfortunately for  a self proclaimed ME DAY, lunch time will be here soon and I do not think there is such a day as a total self proclaimed ME DAY.  It did not start out as a ME DAY and I wonder if there really could be a self-proclaimed ME DAY at all as our calling is to serve and not
to be served.
