There's no big reason to assume my stories will be disseminated to the masses other than my own need to express myself as a human placed on this earth at exactly this exact time in place in history.
My journey will eventually become a part of God's story
My big opportunity of the day, Wednesday, Sept.8,2021 was getting out of the house to join a hundred or so other women in welcoming our first EWG of the 2021-2022 year.
I slid out of the car and enjoyed a slow walk to the building. Fatigue and stiff joints followed. The anticipation of connecting with friends preceded my expectations, salivating at the thoughts of what the mornings lecture would hold. I was not disappointed as the morning progressed. The music was edifying.
I ambled up the slight incline to the sliding door that led to the receptionist cubicle to briefly hang out with my favorite receptionist.
My stiff joints followed me as I continued through the patio. The patio was pretty much empty as I walked toward the family center for the lecture, the luxury afforded by an early arrival. The quietness of my arrival was invigorating. The pleasant, background sounds of the water fountain added to the ambiance.
Upon reaching the Family Center, the quiet of the previous moments turned into the cacophony of verbose hens cackling vibrating in my ears.
Joyous cackles of women enjoying pre-lecture time giving the impression that we had not seen each other for a long time, which we hadn't. The atmosphere was electric.
Remember how you felt on your first day of school?
Yes, thought so, that is the feeling I had. The only thing is, I had not sharpened my pencil. Well, anyways, who sharpens pencils these days?
With the last strains of music, we all settled back into our seats in rapt attention to listen to the lecture by Dr. Paul Twiss.
As a side note: Now mind you, I recall, when the Twiss family first arrived at GCC, and arrived to deposit child #3 in my nursery room while I was supervising one of the rooms. They have had 3 more since and now he has a Dr. in front of his name. But now I am going off on a tangent.
The adage goes, "that you are never too old to learn something new".
Well, it is true. During the lecture, it was explained that the first 5 books of the Bible, The Torah were all on the same scroll, hence, really one book that was chopped up into the books we see today. We were taken through a whirlwind of event to event that formulates those 5 books and to deepen our understanding of God's character and His plans.
It was good to reconnect with my core group as we shared answers to prayers through out the year.
