THE NOSEY NEIGHBOR June 2,2021
Philip Hughs says: "Under God, however, all things are without exception fully controlled-despite all appearances to the contrary."
I read somewhere that we should thank God in advance, because he is already making arrangements. He already knows exactly what He is going to do and how He is going to help us. The unknown things, the unforeseen things are being taken care of.
How do I tell my heart that, when I’m feeling like I am living in a jack-in-a-box. It is very difficult describing my emotions that are running raw these days. We have begun another week shaken and full of those raw emotions and shaken confidences. Our cities have been wounded for days. Yes, I have lost it. Yes, I have had some melt downs.
It is difficult to grasp any marvelous madness in this.
I was reaching for joy.
With a sense of sadness and heaviness of heart, I set on my walk early this morning with the strains of
Sovereign Over Us playing over and over through out my walk in my head.
There is strength within the sorrow
There is beauty in our tears
And You meet us in our mourning
With a love that casts out fear
You are working in our waiting
You're sanctifying us
When beyond our understanding
You're teaching us to trust
Your plans are still to prosper
You have not forgotten us
You're with us in the fire and the flood
You're faithful forever
Perfect in love
You are sovereign over us
You are wisdom unimagined
Who could understand Your ways
Reigning high above the Heavens
Reaching down in endless grace
You're the lifter of the lowly
Compassionate and kind
You surround and You uphold me
And Your promises are my delight
Your plans are still to prosper
You have not forgotten us
You're with us in the fire and the flood
You're faithful forever
Perfect in love
You are sovereign over us
Your plans are still to prosper
You are sovereign over us
Even what the enemy means for evil
You turn it for our good
You turn it for our good and for Your glory
Even in the valley, You are faithful
You're working for our good
You're working for our good and for Your glory
Even what the enemy means for evi
The morning did not disappoint me as I watched the sun rise. For all the disparaging circumstances, the tree lined streets screamed freedom. Nature was crying out “God is here!”. The aching withdrawal from friends and family has taken its toll. The weariness of relying on phone calls, video chats, FaceTime, zoom to socialize does not take the place of touch.
The memories of losing my son six years ago this month have been overwhelming more so this year as quarantine allows more time for the mind to wander on so many memories yet thankful he does not have the burden of living under the circumstances we find ourselves in.
So through all this, I keep walking, and walking.
