TAKE AWAYS and FINAL THOUGHTS OF THE DAY.
FROM PSALM 62
From a care givers perspective, a lot of things can torment us as David who felt people were attacking him. Or perhaps you are tormented by inner fears of feeling incompetent to do the job required. Or to feel tormented by thoughts of failure and thoughts of fear, and anxieties. So how do we manage those times?
Verses 1-2. REST “My Soul Finds rest in God Alone.” The word REST gives pause to meditate, my favorite words, from Psalm 46, one of my go to’s. “Be still and know that I am God.”
REST is one of those gifts long enough to calm down and gain control.
It’s calming ourselves down enough to tell ourselves that we are not alone. Each day we enter into the day not alone. Each night we exit with thoughts of the reminder that God has been with us THAT day.
We are in constant reminder to “Trust The Plan” God’s plan and run into his fortress.
But what about those loved ones that aggravate me, annoy me? Because that’s what they do, a lot. Pick yourself up and remind your self that even though you can easily be upset remind yourself again, “your soul finds rest in God alone”. “He alone is my salvation, my rock, my fortress. I cannot and will not be moved.” Then move on.
And come back again if needed to calm yourself long enough recognize the amazing presence, promises, and providence from God that is ours.
Then those powerful words in verse 8 pop up, “TRUST IN HIM AT ALL TIMES”, ALL TIMES!
Followed by reminder that our aggravators are just passing through and our security is from God.
So I’m left with this thought in mind that God will judge and deal with the situations that are tormenting me. Keep affirming that “My soul finds rest in God Alone” and lavish your thoughts on these merciful seasonal experiences. They force us to wait for God alone.
I feel at times as David did, “feeling weak and vulnerable and fragile like an old stone wall ready to crumble and rickety like an old fence ready to topple over, wondering if I’m going to make it.
Yes, sometimes, care giving feels that way. These are the seasons that teach us what TRUST means.
